This 1-week family trip to Morocco excitingly blends together the Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic Coast. We travel from Marrakech to spend 2 nights beneath Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Here, we spend time with the local people, learn how to bake bread Berber-style, have a traditional Moroccan ‘hammam’ bathing experience and take a walk in the hills with mule support and a tasty picnic. Then, after driving out to the pretty seaside town of Essaouira, we have time to enjoy the hotel pool, explore the enchanting souks of this old port, take a surfing lesson and walk along the Atlantic beach with camels. Returning to Marrakech, our holiday ends with a lesson in Islamic calligraphy and a chance to absorb the atmosphere of the Djema el-Fna, with its snake charmers, jugglers and story tellers. Altogether, an unforgettable experience.
