Meet dragons and mythical creatures at all-new Halloweden
A roaring dragon and an 8ft-tall bird are among many magical beasts and mythical creatures beating a path to the Eden Project for Halloweden from October 20 to November 4.
This is the first time Eden has run a fortnight of Halloweden activities and the gardens will be transformed into a mysterious world full of spooky fun for the whole two weeks.
Everyone will have the chance to come face-to-face with Sapphire the winged dragon, who will be wandering the gardens wowing visitors with her loud roar.
They can also encounter a giant, flightless bird called Pongo, accompanied by his eccentric handler Bill Oddity, as the pair go on their playful walkabout around Eden.
At the Medieval Marketplace children can have fun in the Petting Zoo – as long as they keep their fingers away from hungry and mischievous creatures.
In the Beastly Bazaar they can learn how to make magical animal feed potions and create a garden talisman to take home and plant outside to entice mythical animals to come and stay.
Halloweden also includes three shows themed around magical beasts and mythical creatures.
The Dangerous Beasts Hunt invites visitors to help a collector of mythical animals solve a series of scary challenges.
In the Mediterranean Biome Eden storytellers will describe the ‘Curios of a Cryptozoologist’ and show priceless artefacts from around the world.
The third show entitled Mythical Tales of the Fabled Folk will be about legendary Cornish creatures such as mermaids and the pixie-like spirits, the Knockers.
No bookings are needed for any of these performances which are repeated throughout the day.
There is also a myths and legends trail where daring explorers can seek out the hidden lairs and habitats of magical creatures.
For a fang-tastic evening, the ever-popular Little Monsters’ Ball returns on Saturday, October 27. The whole family can dress up in fiendish costumes and dance on one of two dancefloors, try some ghoulish food or have a skate on the eerie ice rink.
The event takes place from 6pm to 9pm and costs £8 per person with an additional charge for ice skating. Bookings are recommended.
Throughout the fortnight Eden’s fabulous ice rink will be open every day with sessions to suit different ages and abilities.

All activities, apart from the Little Monsters’ Ball and ice skating, are included free as part of Eden admission.
