Brilliantly thought-out family cycling holidays in France
Cycling for Softies offer Alternative to the Family Beach Holiday
This year award-winning travel company Cycling for Softies is offering inspired family cycling holidays in France as an alternative to the perennial beach holiday. The company has chosen one of France’s most unexplored regions to provide special family cycling holiday itineraries.
The Mayenne region is squashed between the two busy holiday hotspots of Brittany and Normandy, is wonderful for families, and the five, seven and nine night Cycling for Softies’ itineraries make the best of what is on offer. The hotels are particularly geared up for families with swimming pools and children’s menus, while the beautiful riverside cycle paths are traffic free, flat and uncrowded.
Not to be missed on this special family cycling tour is the town of Mayenne itself with its 11th century chateau, the flower decked villages of Parne sur Roc and Asnieres sur Vegre and the medieval jousting spectaculars at the chateau at Ste Suzanne.
Prices start from £1075 per person with children aged seven to 15 costing £775, and two to six year olds £125. The price includes five nights dinner, bed and breakfast in three or four star hotels , itineraries and maps, fully serviced touring bikes, on the spot English speaking assistants and luggage transfers. Travel to Mayenne is easy with a range of alternatives including ferry crossings to Dieppe or Caen, flights to Rennes or the train to Laval.
We love that cycling for softies have really thought about how to make a cycling holiday – an activity we ALL use as family fun time – into a really enjoyable holiday experience for everyone. Their family itineraries have easy cycling, lots of cycle paths, hotel pools, flexible eating arrangements and cover lots of interesting areas so there’s always something new to see and do.

Thanks for the lovely endorsement. You’ve hit the nail on the head. As a family-run business with the third generation busily testing our kid-friendly itineraries we really pride ourselves on offering cycling holidays that suit the whole family. In fact we quite often have grandparents, parents and kids all come together.
