Brilliant themed holidays from PGL – who knew?
Love to Learn and Creative Kids holidays at PGL
I’m sure most people are like me in thinking that PGL Adventure Holidays are for getting outdoors, a bit muddy, a bit wet and having a roaring adventure. So I was properly surprised to see that many of its holidays for unaccompanied kids are creative and skills-based.
“On our Creative Kids and Love to Learn holidays children and teenagers can pursue a particular interest like cooking, photography or making music for half the week, with a Multi Activity programme mixed in to ensure they get plenty of outdoor adventure,” said Steve Hougham, head of PGL Adventure Holidays.
Seven night Love to Learn and Creative Kids holidays this summer include:
Cook’s Academy
Age groups 7-10, 10-13, 13-16. Held at PGL Osmington Bay centre on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.
A professional chef teaches good ‘prep’ skills and helps kids cook a variety of meals from starters through mains to puddings. Each child has his/her own recipe book in which to keep notes, and takes home a completed dish to wow the family.
The cost of the week is £629, with start dates 1, 8 and 15 August.
Film Making
Age groups 10-13, 13-16. Held at PGL Boreatton Park in Shropshire.
For kids dreaming of a career behind or in front of the camera, working together as a crew on script, sound, camera, acting, direction and editing to produce a finished ‘short’ that every team member can take home on DVD. Digital video cameras, editing equipment, costumes and all the technical wizardry is provided.
The cost of the week is £659, with start dates 18 & 25 July and 1 & 8 August.
Learner Driver
Age group 13-16. Held at PGL Boreatton Park in Shropshire.
Before they’re old enough to drive on a public road, teens can get a head start on driving skills under careful supervision in dual control cars in a private location. Participants learn driving theory, vehicle safety and hands-on driving skills, which are recorded in his/her course folder, with an end of holiday ‘driving performance report’ to keep.
The cost of the week is £669, with start dates 18 & 25 July, 1, 8, 15 & 22 August.
In all cases, the holiday consists of six half-days of the specialist theme and six half-days of a Multi Activity programme. Accommodation, all meals, equipment, tuition, evening entertainment and supervision included in the price.
